CHARLES GAULT

I have many, many happy memories of cousin Charles. Starting in my very early childhood I recall visiting him in his "rooms" at Trinity College Dublin. Then as a young schoolboy taking my first ever flight over to London to stay with him and Irene in their small Hampstead flat. During this visit we roared around London's famous sights on the back of his motor cycle. Crossing the Atlantic I showed him Niagara Falls on his only Canadian trip and he condemned Canadian beer. The little things that stick in the mind!
We subsequently shared many happy reunions on my UK visits and Galen and I were especially pleased to have stayed with him last year and spent more time together. Despite his advancing years and increasing health challenges it was great to see that his indomitable spirit and sense of humour was in no way diminished.
A life well lived to the end. We will miss him greatly, as will all of you. Our thoughts are with you on Friday and beyond.

To Charles family, We were so very sad to hear of his passing. I remember so vividly his humour, his very characteristic sparkle in the eye and how he loved to be a social creature.My grandmother Gladys adored Charles as her nephew and loved him deeply, she spoke often of him and referred to him as her 'wonderful nephew' and always delighted when he called or visited her.I loved being around Charles at family gatherings, he took time for children and young minds enthralled him...he loved family dearly... also story telling, in which he was a gifted orator!
