Alan Gillespie

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to all those who provided sympathy, comfort, support and the odd hilarious story over the past week. To old friends and new, colleagues, former colleagues, neighbours and wider family members, we thank you for attending the funeral and joining us as we said our final farewell to Dad.

To the staff at James Brown & Sons Funeral Directors for your caring and professional arrangements, we thank you sincerely.

To Mark Niblock, we give thanks to you for honouring Dad's life so eloquently.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to those who attended the scene from the PSNI, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, Air Ambulance and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. As Dad's grandchildren are often told, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

We will now take some time to reflect and process the sudden loss of Dad. However, please know that the abundance of love and respect that we have witnessed and felt for Dad this past week will help ease the ache in our hearts. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by so many. Amongst a lot of tears this week, Dad's parting gift to us has been laughter. He would be chuffed to bits to know that.

We are truly grateful,

Alanna and Michael.
