The death has occurred of:
Brenda Mary Sweeney (née Dellett)
The family of the late Brenda Sweeney (nee Dellet), 27 Mill Road, Portstewart, formerly Belfast, who died on 5th August, 2025, would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who supported and sympathised with us during our recent bereavement.
Your presence at the wake and funeral, the stories you shared, and the memories you recalled of Brenda have been a great comfort. To our extended family, friends, and neighbours—and to those who travelled from near and far—your Mass cards, sympathy cards, calls, and messages of support have meant the world to us. We are especially grateful to everyone who helped organise and serve refreshments at the wake—thank you.
Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Portstewart Medical Centre, the community teams, and carers for the attentive care they provided to Brenda over recent years. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the paramedics, healthcare staff in the Accident & Emergency Department and Medical Ward 2 of the Causeway Hospital for their compassionate and dedicated care during Brenda’s final days. We are particularly thankful to Fr McGuckien for administering the Sacrament of the Sick, and the hospital chaplains who brought great spiritual comfort to Brenda and our family.
A heartfelt thank you to Rev. Pat McNeill for celebrating the Requiem Service at St Anne's, Finaghy, and to all who contributed to making the service so special. Thanks also to the Beechlawn Hotel for providing refreshments following the funeral. We wish to express an extra special thank you to David and his team at S.D. Brown Funeral Directors for their professional service and sensitive manner in which they carried out the wake and funeral arrangements.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deepest appreciation.
Brenda's Month's Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 13th September in St. Anne's, Finaghy at 5pm and on Sunday 14th September in St. Mary's Star of the Sea, Portstewart at 10am.
Our Lady of Knock, pray for her.
