The death has occurred of:
Brendan Kelly
We the family of the late Brendan Kelly extend our sincere thanks to all who sympathised with us following his unexpected death.
For the expertise and compassion of the paramedics and Air Ambulance crew who attended Brendan on his final day, and for the kind hearts and gentle hands of medical and nursing teams at the Royal Victoria Hospital in their care of Brendan and us, his family, in his final hours, we owe you a debt of thanks.
Our gratitude to the many, from near and far, who attended the wake, visited us at home to sympathise and support us, sent Mass cards and sympathy cards, messages, e-mails, brought food and attended the funeral in person or online. We are indebted to all those behind the scenes who helped during the wake and funeral to ensure everyone got parked safely and enjoyed a cup of tea and bite to eat. Their organisational skills and good humour were invaluable in our time of need and sorrow. The thoughtfulness and support extended to us through many acts of kindness by family, friends, neighbours and colleagues and the marvellous stories and memories shared were hugely comforting and will always be remembered.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr Madden, for his pastoral support and celebrating the Requiem Mass- it was warm, witty and dignified and we know that Brendan would have wholeheartedly approved. To Fr McKenna for assisting in celebrating the Funeral Mass and Fr McCaul and Fr McGuigan for their prayers at the house and words of spiritual comfort. The music at the Mass was beautiful and for this, we owe thanks to Bernie, Sean and Dara. Thanks also to the lay ministers, the sacristan, Devlin Media and Gerard’s Flowers for their services on the day and for those who prepared Brendan’s grave. We are grateful to An Rath Dubh and their marvellous team of volunteers for supplying chairs and catering equipment for the wake and for hosting refreshments following the funeral.
Our family express thanks to O’Kane Funeral Directors- to Michael and Noreen, not just for their professionalism, but also for the great compassion they showed towards us and their patience at guiding us so ably through events.
It is impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our deepest appreciation and gratitude to those who have supported our family in any way. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for you all.
Brendan’s months mind mass will be celebrated on Friday 11th October at 7.30pm in the Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown and can be viewed online.
