McKavanagh (née Lavery) Cecelia, died May 8, 2024. Cecelia’s daughters, sons and entire family circle wish to thank all those who sympathised and comforted them during their recent bereavement.

Sincere thanks to our relatives, friends, neighbours and the wider Aghagallon and Aghalee community, our work colleagues, all who called or helped at the wake or brought food, those who sent sympathy or Mass cards, sent condolence messages via email, whatsapp, messenger, text message, posted online tributes, or telephoned, attended the funeral and gathered along the funeral route, thanks especially to those who travelled long distances for mummy’s wake and funeral or watched the funeral via the webcam, particularly from Wales, England, Paris, Australia, USA and Canada. Thanks to St. Mary’s GAA Aghagallon for their support and thanks to the committee members, footballers, camogs and all who formed the guard of honour at mummy’s funeral. Thanks to those who sent floral arrangements or donated to Special Olympics Ulster in lieu of flowers.

We wish to acknowledge our sincere appreciation for the doctors, nurses, health care staff and all the team in Aghalee GP surgery, the District Nurses, all the staff in Aghalee Pharmacy, and all the health care workers in the range of Hospitals and clinics mummy attended, for their professionalism, kindness and support given to mummy over many years. A special thanks to the Southern Trust Acute Care at Home Team, consultants Dr. Ola and Dr. Michael Goggin, as well as Dr. Stephen McCluskey and Dr. Shri and all the doctors, nurses, health care assistants, physios, OT’s, speech and language therapists, dietician nutritionists, pharmacists and all the other members of the Acute Care at Home Team who tended to mummy’s complex health care needs in her final three weeks, for their attentive care, dedication, and expertise. You all do such tremendously amazing work, for which we are very grateful, Thank You.

A special thanks also to our Parish Priest Fr. Declan Mulligan for caring for mummy’s spiritual needs with such compassion, through his home visits this past few years and for celebrating her life with the beautiful Requiem Mass at her funeral, and for his guidance and support to our family when mummy passed away, especially the empathy and support given to Michael. Thanks to the church sacristan, the altar servers, Eucharist Ministers and Catherine for all their assistance. Thanks to the readers and those who brought forward the symbols of mummy’s life. A particular thanks to musical director Michaela Mulholland and Martin Lavery for providing the beautiful music to complement the Mass liturgy, Dorothy and Barry Arnold for providing the gorgeous family flowers, Kieran Mulholland for preparing the grave and Michael and Louise Mulholland and all the staff at the Derryhirk for providing the catering after the funeral.

We are very grateful and wish to thank Jack and Margaret and all the staff at Jack McLearnon and Son Funeral Directors for the personal supervision, service, commitment, and professional support they gave to the family for mummy’s funeral.

We wish to convey our deep gratitude and thanks to Maurice Flynn for his kindness and generosity during mummy’s wake, and also to Ulster GAA, all the County Boards in Ulster and the wider national GAA family, for all their support during our bereavement, in particular we would like to acknowledge Ulster GAA for including mummy in the moments silence at this year’s Ulster Senior Football Championship Final, that was very special and we were very humbled by this kind gesture and are truly grateful.

As it would not be possible to thank you all personally, we hope you will accept this acknowledgement of our sincere thanks and appreciation for your support during our time of grief.

The months mind Mass for Cecelia who is so dearly missed, will be on Sunday 30th June 2024 at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church, Aghagallon.
