ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
CHRISTOPHER (CHRISTY) GILLEN
We, the family of the late Christy Gillen, his wife Sadie, sons and daughters, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and his brothers and sisters would like to thank all of those who sympathised with us on the loss of a truly special man.
Thanks to those who attended the wake and provided the food and looked after us so well, we especially thank the Bentley Group/ Embankment Bar and Grill, Subway, Dohertys Bakery, Thomas at the Spar Central Drive and Mc Keevers Newsagents Central Drive. We would also like to thank my mother’s side of the family, her brothers and sisters from Strabane who also contributed in various ways throughout the wake.
We would like to thank those who sent floral tributes and made donations in his name and we especially thank the neighbours of Culdaff Gardens for their flowers. It was such a great comfort to our mother and family that so many of our old neighbours from Rinmore Drive were able to attend the wake and funeral including our next door neighbours for many years the Mc Intyres. We also thank the Creggan Derry City Supporters Club were my father enjoyed many years of travel watching his beloved Derry City.
We thank those who took part in the beautiful requiem mass, those who read and his grandchildren who brought items to the altar celebrating his great loves. We thank the singers who provided the beautiful music and to Fr Ignacy Saniuta for a beautiful mass.
A special word of thanks to Christy’s lifelong friend Frankie Ramsey whose presence during our fathers very short illness and throughout the wake and funeral was a huge source of comfort to our family.
Finally and most sincerely we would like to thank our fathers lifelong friend Charlie McLaughlin at Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors who went above and beyond to ensure our dad got a dignified send off and that our mother played an active part in the funeral.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually we trust this acknowledgment is accepted by all as a token of our sincere thanks.
Christy’s month mind mass will take place on Friday 28th March at 7.30pm, St Marys Church, Creggan. All are welcome.
Sister Clare and Padre Pio Pray for him.
