David and my life-time experiences began dramatically with the W.W.2 air raids over Belfast.
This led to a rapid migration to Island Magee, a place we considered Paradise where so much time was given to fishing off the Cove and playing with the local children.
I recall David somehow acquiring a parachute and teasing me into jumping off the garden wall into a bed of nettles with the parachute still intact!
On his return to Belfast we became students at the B.R.A. where he enjoyed being a member of the swim team, a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life.
David quickly found romance when the family moved to Upper Cavehill Rd. which blossomed into a long, loving marriage to Adrienne, the love of his life.
After graduating in Architecture from Sheffield University and his new wife Adrienne by his side, they spent a period living at Merville Garden Village where I would visit them every Monday night after late night surgery keeping them out of bed!
Their departure to Coleraine reduced our interaction but gave Janet and our daughters great delight visiting them and their boys.
The girls have fond memories of those days and the fun they had there. David was always the gracious host with lots of laughter around the table.
Unfortunately our visits became fewer with our move to England and then onto Canada but we always kept in touch and spent many happy holidays together.
Fortunately our paths would cross in their beautiful house along the river and then on retirement in their Coleraine home
We love them and miss David, my double cousin so much.
Love from David, Janet, Karen and Deborah. Tuesday 19 March 2019 Janet and David Johnston, London, Ontario, Canada
