In Memoriam; Ken Smith

So long then, rest easy dear friend. Condolences and respects to your children Mandy and David and to
your extended family also.

A dream visited me after hearing of your sad passing. You are negotiating backing tracks with St. Peter, is it Billy May or Nelson Riddle as you prepare for you entry through Heavens Gate, with style and panache as you sing" That's Life and New York, New York."
And that's the way we met on the motorhome circuit all over Ireland, with your partner Phyllis and her son David with whom you assisted well, even when David ventured on the dancefloor.
Thanks brother for your valued friendship to Marie and I and for your performances at family events over the years.
I have an unsettled issue however, you may recall us bringing you a large bottle of gin from our stay in France ? Not just gin but Hendricks with the rose and cucumber infusion.! You donated it to a group of thirsty, then happy campers in favour of your esteemed favourite, Gordon's Dry. !!
Thanks for sharing some sad but almost entirely joyful moments with us.
You were a fine singer who handled the Sinatra songbook with style. A favourite was "Nancy with the laughing Face" though other songs drew more applause. You handled well the stage rush and the occasional xx size thrown frilly, and your working the floor caused a few, even non-pacemaker ladies to have a heart flutter. Great memories.

Ken, your love of music makes me ask, and I know you'll forgive this, did you have a hand in arranging the undertaker, James Brown ?

But now my friend, and with a helpful hint to St Peter,
" Big it Up for the one, the one and only Carrick Crooner, Ken Smith singing, My Way "

" I've lived a life that's full
I travelled each and every highway
And more, much more than this,
I did it My Way " Thursday 25 June 2020 Aidan and Marie Walsh ([email protected])
