To the family.I am very sorry for your loss. This lady was my father’s (Ernest) sister but we never met each other. I only met her mother and father once or twice. One day was a Saturday afternoon on my way home from St Columb’s College when I called at Windsor Terrace, unknown to my parents. My grandparents were pleasent to me but I was not invited into the home. It was very hard for a twelve year old to accept but I did.
My father was married to Annie Hamilton, from Derry, but she died in a Dublin hospital after only a few months. I found several of the lovely, final letters after my father passed away. When my father married my mum, his parents nor family were never talked about in our house.
I don't really know why I am sending this. It just seems the right thing to do.
