Latest Sympathy Notices

This is very very sad news. Roy was quite remarkable. In every way he was the Good Soldier. It was clear to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him that, effortlessly, he was able to combine the Good Soldier's dedication to his public duties while being part of a wonderful loving family and a peerless supporter of Glasgow Rangers and Manchester United.

Roy was the original click and collect' guy, decades ahead of Amazon and Uber, always available and ready to go no matter the journey or the time of day or night. That sense of professionalism was always accompanied by his good humour and sensitivity towards all he encountered during often troubled times.

Us Veterans of Maryfield will forever remember Roy and those of his family who were part of the team with great affection. .

My deepest sympathy to all of Roy's family at this sad time. Bill Nolan 08/11/2021 Monday 08 November 2021 Bill Nolan

As the current Irish Joint Secretary in the British-Irish Secretariat in Belfast, I wish to convey, on my own behalf and on behalf of all the previous Irish Joint Secretaries and Irish colleagues who worked with Roy over the years, our deepest sympathy to Roy's family on his passing. He is remembered fondly by the many Irish officials he worked with over the years and they have been saddened to hear of his illness and now passing. Ní bheig a leithéid aris ann, we will not see his like again. Friday 05 November 2021 Kevin Conmy, Irish Joint Secretary
