Greatly saddened and not a little shocked to be informed of Derek’s death.
He was a thoroughly nice and honourable man; it was always a pleasure to be in his company. He was a generous and welcoming host when we visited Belfast for RPSI events. He was in addition a supportive member of the IRRS, and his pictorial depiction, shown to the Society in Dublin and London, of the Belfast ambience of his earlier years was one of the most memorable presentations of recent times.
He will be very much missed by a wide circle, but most especially by his daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughters, all very dear to him, and to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.
