As my former Instructor at Jordanstown, Don Lavery, was in many respects, one in a million. His dedicated enthusiasm and love of teaching was exemplary and resonated with many students. I would later travel to Dubai and Canada and when home, I'd meet with Don for coffee or breakfast in Lurgan and catch-up. We would talk about my Professorship in Ontario, his girls (daughters), his love of cycling and generally chat about anything. I dedicated my First Conference Paper to Don in Bahrain and in the midst of beginning of my PhD, I think about him....a lot. Most of all I miss him dearly. Love, prayers and respect for one of our greatest losses, Don Lavery RIP.

He never failed to do his best, his heart was true and tender,
he only lived for those he loved, and those he loved remember. Tuesday 19 March 2024 Noreen

I will always remember Don with affection and respect. He was one of my managers and mentors during my time with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive during which he rescued me from many a difficult situation. It was my privilege to join him as a colleague later at the University where he contributed to the successful careers of numerous students. There is no doubt that he has left a substantial footprint on the industry that he loved. My thoughts and condolences to Don's family who doubtless will be feeling the acute ache of his departure.
