I was shocked to hear of Éamon’s untimely death, having heard him in full flow at the Civil War conference in UCC last June. His research made an enormous contribution to our understanding northern nationalism and his sensitive role in the commemorations was highly significant. His knowledge, wisdom and generosity will be sadly missed.
