It was with great sadness that Eileen and I learned of Marie’s passing. We are thinking and praying for all her family and friends and taking comfort in knowing that Marie is, at last, truly safe and in the loving embrace of Our Father in Heaven. I hope these few words can do justice to a beautiful lady, someone we had enormous admiration for. It was such a privilege to know Marie and her husband Sean personally and to witness the love and respect they had for each other. Marie was always a lot of fun. A great conversationalist around the dinner table but also a woman of great strength and deep faith.
When I learned of her death I couldn’t help thinking about Seamus Heany’s epitaph. Seamus’ epitaph could easily be Marie’s “Walk on air, against your better judgement.” It sums up for Eileen and I how Marie lived her life and what she wanted for others especially her family and many friends.
May her gracious soul Rest in Peace.
