Vivienne and I became firm friends over the course of several years as we attended the same French and Spanish language classes and usually travelled together to and from such. In recent years we concentrated on Spanish classes run by the local U3A.
Resulting from the friendship formed by attendance at these classes, I also got to know her late husband Gil very well. They had a lovely home in a beautiful rural setting where I spent many happy hours drinking coffee and debating the issues of the day.
Vivienne loved wild life, was a keen photographer and combined the two interests superbly. She kept me posted about the wild life around her home. In particular, I loved the item concerning the pheasant, which came regularly to her kitchen door to be fed.
Rest in peace mi amiga.

Viv……we met on a “McMillan bereaved spouses and partners site” as we shared a deep sadness due to the loss of our partners Gil and Marie. We quickly become great friends, and I will miss you dearly and all of our messages, chats on the phone & video calls they were sacred to us both and like me they gave you solace too knowing we both shared the same sadness. But it was your hope and strength that gave me strength too, and your stoicism and courage will be what I remember and love about you most and I will forever miss our chats.
You’re now out of pain and once again reunited with your soulmate Gil, Rest In Peace my friend, your mate from Durham Ian xx You were always someone special, someone kind and true, you will never be forgotten, for we thought the world of you. Tuesday 08 April 2025 Ian Johnson (Durham)
