What can I say, Darrell? I still can't believe you're gone. I keep expecting you to call and say it was all a mistake and that you want me to pick you up from the airport in the morning.
I will truly miss our conversations on the motorway, where we talked not just about work, but also about your family, your boys, and your grandchildren, and how proud you were of them.
You were always the best mentor I could have ever asked for, arriving in my life just when I needed it the most. Thank you for all the support you provided me.

Almost a week on, and I still struggle to find the words to truly express how I feel. I just want to say what an incredible gentleman and leader you’ve been — both professionally and personally! I’m truly grateful to have been able to call you both my boss and a friend.
Thank you for the trust, support, guidance, and opportunities you gave me over the last six years.
I’ll miss so much — especially my chauffeuring duties, the text messages before your grand arrival to Birmingham, whilst I jokingly tell you I’ve booked you an Uber. I’ll miss our conversations, both work-related and personal, your fatherly advice, and all the wisdom you shared. The list goes on… but most of all, I’ll cherish every moment we shared — now lasting memories.
Your loyalty, warmth, and ability to put people first touched the lives of many. Beyond work, your kindness and friendship will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.
My thoughts are also with your family — whom you were always so proud of. I extend my heartfelt condolences to them all.
