Brian Walker’s Memories Michael was a brother in a million, always ready to help anyone, anytime. Always with a smile on his face and a kind word. Nothing was a bother to him. When we were young, I joined the Scouts , St Paul’s 17th CBSI, and later Michael joined as well. We had great fun camping up in Colin Glen. Later I joined the Sea Cadets, Belfast Eagle beside HMS Caroline. Sure enough Michael Followed suit. We participated in various aspects, sailing, canoeing, rowing etc. When I was an Officer, I was a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (Silver Standard) Adjudicator and was very proud when Michael progressed and achieved the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, which was presented to him in Buckingham Palace. When I got divorced in 1992 I came back home and stayed with Michael for six months until I got my own flat in Lough Lea, above wee Frankie Stewart. Mick encouraged me to get back out into the community again. I joined him this time in becoming a member of St Matthew’s Bowling Club and St Matthew’s Social Club and The Docker’s Club. I also joined him at The RVH Indoor and Outdoor Bowling Club and spent lots of time together going to matches all over the province. When I remarried five years later Michael was my Best Man when I married Barbara in our Country & Western style wedding. We Will always miss him. Love you Big Lad.

I have been Michael’s long term partner for the last twenty five years since meeting at the Dockers Club one Sunday one night.
Together with my son, Padraig, we have taken Michael into our hearts and we will sorely miss him, as he had been a big part of our lives.
We have had many enjoyable holidays, at home and abroad. One of our favourite outings, has been going to Hugo Duncan’s outside broadcasts around the province.
