Tommy was Lifford Players’ Stage Manager and we couldn’t have done without him.
In January, he helped design and make the set for that year’s show.
Once live performances started in late February he was ready for action. Starting in the early morning, he and the backstage crew loaded up the set in Strabane. Then they drove to wherever that night’s performance was to take place. They unloaded the set there, carried it in and erected it in its proper location.
All of this was done before a single actor had arrived.
During the performance, he took control of all backstage operations.
After the performance, the set was carefully dismantled, reloaded and taken back to Strabane in the wee hours, ready for the next performance.
He was known and respected in halls and theatres all over Ireland up to and including the Dean Crowe in Athlone, The Abbey Theatre in Dublin and The Lyric in Belfast.
As I said, we couldn’t have had our successes without him.
