Acknowledgement of thanks from the family of the late Damian McLoughlin (RIP)
We, the family of the late Damian McLoughlin , would like to take this opportunity to express our deep and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered their support and sympathy after the passing of Damian.
We greatly appreciated each and every one who took the time to send Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters, phone calls, messages, floral tributes and donations to Newry Gateway and Mind Wise.
The family has been overwhelmed and grateful with the lovely thoughts and memories of Damian. We knew he was a very special person. To hear all the wonderful stories and memories recalled, it brought home to us that Damian not only left his lovely special imprint in us but with many other people too.
Damian was a very proud Newry man, who loved the town and the people. It is testament to this in the way they conveyed kindness, compassion and generosity of their time and the local community showed this to Damian on a daily basis.
A special thank you to his neighbours in Michael Mallin Park, who kept a watchful eye out for him.
To Moira McCourt (Patrick Street) who was so kind with her time with Damian and her fitting tribute to him on the day of his funeral with Damian’s chair placed outside her shop.
To all the staff at the Kitchen Cafe (Carnbane), Damian’s favourite place to eat. We loved going there and seeing all your happy, smiling, welcoming faces. It was lovely to see so many of you at the wake.
Thank you to all the familiar faces from the Newry and Warrenpoint Tennis community. It was great to hear and see you all recollecting memories of a very happy time in Damian’s life.
Damian was extremely fortunate to have a very kind, considerate and professional health team around him. Thank you to Dr Curran and the staff at Clanrye Surgery, New Pharm pharmacy, Mental Health Rehab team and the Homecare team.
We would also like to thank Newry Fire Service for the Guard of Honour in respect of Damian on the day of his funeral.
Thank you to Father Ruaidhrí Grieve for the thoughtful reflective Mass in thanks of Damian’s life. The singer Cliona Cowan for her beautiful voice in singing the hymns.
A very big thank to Patricia and the Heaney Keenan Funeral team for looking after us all so well, during and up to the day of the funeral. Personally, you really helped navigate us in an extremely difficult time in a very soft, personal, reassuring, organised, and professional manner. It meant a lot to us and we are so grateful for your help in us laying Damian to rest, taking such good care of him .
To Central Florist for the beautiful floral arrangement.
We extend our warmest welcome to you to join us at Damian’s months mind mass to be held in St. Catherine’s Church. Dominican on the 13th January at 7.30pm.
