David Patrick Brian FITZPATRICK SFTCD MRIA
Fitzpatrick, David Patrick Brian , SFTCD MRIA, (Belfast and Trinity College, Dublin), died 20 February 2019, (aged 70), stoically and with great dignity, in the gentle and respectful care of the Marie Curie Hospice, Knock, Belfast and with his wife and younger daughters by his side. Beloved husband of Jane Leonard and loving and adored father of Julia and Hannah. Cherished and loved by his family in Melbourne especially his older children Brian and Meg, their mother Georgina, grandchildren Mairead, Olivia, Isabelle and Ronan, daughter-in-law Belinda, son-in-law Marino, sister Sheila and former brother-in law Paul. Deeply regretted by the Leonard and Lempriére families in Dublin and London especially his mother-in-law Una, sisters-in-law Liz and Sara (and her husband John), brother-in-law Mark, nephew Connor and nieces Molly, Nora, Caoimhe and Eilis. David will be much missed by his neighbours, friends, fellow cyclists and espresso aficionados on the Ormeau Road, and particularly by Maurice Meehan, his tennis partner at Windsor LTC. Sincerely regretted by his former colleagues at TCD where he lectured in modern Irish history for almost forty years. Fondly remembered by those of us fortunate enough to have been his students.

David’s remains will arrive at St. George’s Parish Church, High Street, Belfast on Monday 25 February, at 5 pm. Funeral Eucharist on Tuesday 26 February at 12 midday followed by private family cremation.
