The death has occurred of:
Dr John BURTON
The family of the late Dr John Burton of Magherafelt would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to all who sympathised with them during their recent bereavement.
We offer our sincerest thanks to all who attended John’s funeral Mass and to those who sent Mass Cards, Sympathy cards, messages of condolence, floral tributes, letters, phone calls and messages of sympathy online.
A special word of thanks goes to Darren, Paddy, and Jackie, from Mid Ulster Community First Responders, as well as to family, friends and neighbours, whose constant support has been such a comfort to the Burtons.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to the Very Reverend Canon Michael Toner of St Patrick’s Church, Cullyhanna, Co. Armagh, for John’s beautiful Requiem Mass. We extend our appreciation to all who participated in it, especially the pallbearers, readers, and gift bearers – John’s cherished grandchildren Aoife and Jack.
A special word of thanks to John’s brother-in-law, the Reverend Deacon Declan McConville, who came over from Poole to concelebrate the funeral mass, and who delivered a perfect homily.
Many thanks to Odhrán and Sionán Murphy, whose polished accompaniment was a fitting tribute for a man with a lifelong love of all things musical.
We gratefully acknowledge McCusker Bros. Funeral Directors, Magherafelt for their guidance, sensitivity and the dignified way in which they handled all the arrangements; and to Gerard’s Flowers for the beautiful family wreaths.
We also thank the gravediggers who prepared John’s final resting place, as well as St Patrick’s GFC Cullyhanna and McEntee’s of Crossmaglen for their wonderful catering after the funeral.
It would be impossible to thank everyone individually. We hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our sincere thanks.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.
John’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 19th July at 11:30am at St. Patrick’s Church, Cullyhanna, Co. Armagh.
