The death has occurred of:
Edel Bennett
The family of the late Edel Bennett wish to express their heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to all who supported them during their recent bereavement.
Edel’s husband George, her brothers Tony, Niall, and John, her sister Justine and the wider family circle are truly grateful to everyone who offered sympathy and kindness following the loss of a much-loved wife, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, and dear friend.
We are especially thankful to our extended family, friends, and wonderful neighbours for their unwavering support. To all who visited the house, attended the funeral, or joined us online, your presence and compassion brought great comfort during a very difficult time.
Thank you to everyone who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers, messages of condolence, brought food, called to the house, helped during the wake, or supported us in any way.
A special word of thanks to those who travelled from near and far to be with us. We will always remember your kindness.
We are deeply grateful to the Southern Trust palliative care team, the Community care team, staff of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, and to Evora Hospice, Newry, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Edel. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Edel’s sister-in-law, Maggie. Her gentle, loving presence and the care she gave as a family member brought deep comfort to Edel and to us all.
Our sincere thanks to Fr. Clarke and Fr. Loughran for their spiritual guidance and for celebrating such a dignified Requiem Mass. We also thank Lois Bennett and St. Malachy’s Choir for the graceful and beautifully performed music and Francis the sacristan for his help and thoughtful preparation of the church.
We extend our appreciation to Mairéad, Dermot and Hugh of Quinn Bros. for their professionalism and the dignified, caring manner in which Edel’s wake and funeral were arranged. Thank you also to Nancy and her team for the lovely food after the funeral, and to the gravedigger for preparing Edel’s final resting place with such care.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere gratitude.
Edel will be greatly missed by George and her family and friends.
Edel’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, 31st August at 11.30am in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Drumcree. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Our Lady of Knock, pray for Edel.
