The Gillespie family wish to acknowledge the many kind expressions of sympathy and support offered on the recent sad loss of our much-loved and treasured mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, Lily.

We offer our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to our extended family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, who visited the house, travelled long distances, helped at the wake, sent Mass cards, sent flowers and for those who brought gifts of food or attended the funeral Mass and burial. We are eternally grateful for your words of comfort, visits, and support.

Sincere thanks also to Fr Michael Canny, Fr Patrick Lagan and Fr Shaun Doherty for your support and prayers for Mum during her stay in hospital. To Fr Canny for the beautiful mass and Fr Eugene Boland and Fr Shaun Doherty for their prayers at the burial. To our dear friend Fr Eugene Boland for all his support, prayers, and many blessings to Mum over the years, we are eternally grateful. Thanks to Anne Marie Hickey and Aidan Watson for the beautiful singing and accompaniment at the funeral. Thanks to Cassidy’s who provided the refreshments after the burial.

The family would also like to pay tribute to the dedicated, caring and compassionate Doctors nurses and staff of Ward 31 at Altnagelvin Hospital, for their care for Mum during her final weeks. To Clarendon Medical for their care for Mum over the years, particularly Dr Stephen Lalsingh for his kindness and support.

A huge thank you to Na Piarsaigh Doire Trasna Under 16 ladies players, coaches and parents who provided a guard of honour for Mum. Lily was very fond of you all and you paid a beautiful tribute to her by your presence at both the wake and funeral.

A special thanks to W.J. O’Brien & Son (Funeral Directors, Eglinton), for their professional and dignified handling of all the funeral arrangements.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Mum’s months mind will be held in St Columb’s Church, Chapel Road on Thursday 12th October 2023 at 7.30pm.

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
