Gerry (James) O'Neill

8th January 2022, peacefully at his home in Glengarry, Canada, beloved husband of Linda, former spouse of Susan, loving father of Desmond, Paula, Gerry and Ciaran, father-in-law of Peter, Anne Marie and Moira, a much loved grandfather and great grandfather and dearest brother of Hugh (Whitey), Myra, Junior, Mary Kate, Eileen, Philomena, Alice, Frankie, Olivia, Maria, Delia, Greta and Petchie.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at the family home, 24 Gelvin Grange, from 5 pm on Tuesday.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Columba's Church, Longtower on Thursday 20th January 2022 at 11 o'clock.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to Parkinson Foyle Branch Co/ Leslie Hill, 17 Farlow Road, Caw, Londonderry.

Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and entire family circle.

My family and close friends know about my special relationship with my grandfather.

I knew his passing was near. But it doesn’t make the heartbreak a whole lot easier.

Gerry O’Neill was larger than life. He had a profound impact on so many people that he connected with. Gerry’s warmth, talent, insight, and charm were, to use one of his favourite words, magic. Truly magic.

Gerry taught me lots about humanity and about life. He lived fully. He loved deeply. My memories with him are plentiful and powerful. I am so thankful for that.

My heart is saddened to hear this news of Gerry. Many days and many more nights we chatted about music, family, and then more music when he lived in St. John's and Chateauguay, QC. I will fondly remembers those cherished occasions. May his musical spirit soar. To Linda, Desi, Paula, Gerry, Ciaran and Sue, we both offer our sincerest sympathies to you and your families.
