The death has occurred of:
Henry Joseph (Harry) TOHILL
We, the family of the late Harry Tohill, wish to thank everyone who sympathised with, supported and helped us in any way during these past few years and especially in and around the time of Daddy’s passing.
We are very grateful for the support, prayers and assistance of family, friends and neighbours and particularly appreciate all the practical things that were done, such as organising car parking, making and baking of bread and other food, and being pallbearers. There were many other contributions, large and small, all made without asking and all of which we are grateful for.
Fr. Charles Keaney, PP was extremely attentive to Daddy in recent times and we wish to thank him for celebrating the Requiem Mass and providing both Daddy and Mammy access to the Sacraments over the last few years. We are also grateful to Fr. Paddy Doherty for attending and supporting Fr. Keaney during the Requiem Mass.
We thank Rodney Gallagher of Glenshane Coach Hire who courteously and diligently ferried those who attended the wake on both nights, and we wish to acknowledge his most generous donation to Marie Curie. Similarly, we wish to acknowledge those who also made donations either via ourselves or privately.
We thank Loreto McAuley, Elizabeth Ross and Hayley Howe for their excellent music and vocals during the Requiem Mass and Heather Patterson for coordinating same; John O’Neill for preparing the grave; Dermot and Catriona Friel (Friel’s Bar and Restaurant) for facilitating the post funeral refreshments; and Granaghan and District’s Women’s Group for the use of their hall (the Resource Centre) for refreshments after the Month’s Mind Mass.
We are especially grateful to all the community carers, medical and healthcare professionals, and so many others who supported, attended and visited Daddy over the last few years.
A special word of thanks goes to the doctors, nurses and entire team at Maghera Medical Centre; the medical and other professionals and staff at Antrim Area and Causeway Hospitals including Sr. Rosemary at the Causeway Hospital; our neighbour Dr Paul John McCormack, the district nurses, social workers and other professionals in the community; the Marie Curie team; and Martin, Gabrielle and Martina of Shields Pharmacy, Kilrea (and Swatragh).
Like so many other families in the locality, we are indebted to the Carers from Ann's Homecare who attended and supported Daddy in recent years. They perform a vital and often unheralded role in our community. We were blessed to have them as part of our family as they visited and looked after Daddy so well.
We wish to thank Enda, Tom and Ronan of McCusker Bros. Funeral Directors for their support, guidance and delivery of the funeral arrangements.
As it is impracticable to thank everyone individually, we hope that everyone will find something within this acknowledgement that communicates our thanks to them either directly or indirectly. It is not our intention to omit anyone and if we do, we apologise.
The Month’s Mind Mass for Henry Joseph (Harry) Tohill will take place in St. John the Baptist’s Church, Granaghan at 7pm on Saturday, 17th May 2025
