The death has occurred of:
James Gerard (Gerry) Gallagher
The family and partner of the late James Gerard (Gerry) Gallagher wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on our recent bereavement.
We are heartbroken at the loss of a very special and gentle person, a much loved partner, daddy, granda, great granda, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend.
We are forever grateful to our families and Dad’s friends who came to visit and pray with us in Dad’s final hours.
A special thank you to Father Canny for administering the last rites.
Thank you to everyone who came to the wake and funeral. We were overwhelmed by the amount of people and by the kindness of everyone.
To those who gave mass cards, sympathy cards, floral tributes, sent messages, and to all those who traveled long distances to be with us, we will never forget you.
The time and trouble people took to share in our time of loss will never be forgotten.
A special word of thanks to our wonderful families, friends and neighbours, who brought food and dinners, and who ensured there was always refreshments on the go.
Knowing that you were all there in the background was a great comfort and support to us.
Thank you to An Chroi Community Hub for providing a loan of the essentials for the wake, and to our family and friends for help preparing the house.
Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Clarendon Medical who provided dad with amazing care.
To the district nursing team, all of you are incredible.
Thank you to Carla, the OT, to Jack the physio, to the NI ambulance service, Western urgent care, the Trust carers, Bryson carers, Strabane district caring, Marie Curie and the on call social workers.
We are eternally grateful to each and every one of you, who enabled him to be cared for at home, which was his wish.
A special thank you to Dr John McGoran, consultant, Altnagelvin Hospital, who took the time to advise us of the next steps in Dad’s care, at a time when we weren’t sure how to proceed, and to Dr Claire Harrison, consultant at Belfast City Hospital, who knew exactly what Dad wanted.
A very special word of thanks to the amazing, Foyle Hospice at home palliative care team.
We will never forget the care and compassion all of you showed to Dad and us.
A heartfelt thank you to Mairead, who in Dad’s final days guided us, as we were completely lost. She took care of everything.
Thank you to Father Canny for a beautiful requiem mass, and to Erin Carlin for the most beautiful singing and music.
Thank you to Liam and the staff of The Branch for the beautiful food following the funeral.
We will be forever grateful to Pat Harley, undertakers and his team.
They took care of everything with such compassion and dignity. They were a great support to us.
Thank you to our families, friends and work colleagues for the ongoing love and support shown to us.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this acknowledgment as a sincere expression of our gratitude and appreciation to all who supported us in any way.
Gerry will be forever loved and sadly missed.
Sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
St Pio pray for him
