The wife, son, daughter, brothers, sister and extended family of the late James (Jimmy) McKinney (RIP) wish to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped us through this very sad and difficult time in our lives. We take comfort from the huge numbers who attended the wake and funeral which was a real tribute to Jimmy - a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend to many.
We will be eternally grateful to everyone who attended the wake and funeral, brought food supplies, Mass Cards, Sympathy Cards, sent online messages of condolence and a special thanks to all who helped in the kitchen and made teas etc. We are also very appreciative of the generosity of Cordelia’s Chip shop for providing the family with very welcome food at the wake.
A special note of thanks to Lislea Committee and neighbours who supplied us with all we needed to facilitate the huge crowds who attended the wake, we are blessed to have such wonderful friends and neighbours.
We thank Father Greg Carvill for his prayers with Jimmy in hospital, his visits to our home during the wake and for the very fitting homily and Requiem Mass celebrated on Easter Sunday. Thanks to Cathy Kelly and her accompanist Sara Jane for the beautiful singing and music which helped make the celebration of Mass so special, to the Management and staff of Trimprint for the beautifully presented Mass booklet, to the Eucharistic Ministers Fergus and Gabriel and Liam the Sacristan for their helpful contributions to the Funeral Mass.
Thanks to Dr Conor Moore GP (Abbeycourt Surgery) who was diligent in looking after Jimmy in recent months. We are particularly grateful to the Doctors and Nursing Staff at Daisy Hill Hospital HDU, the Respiratory Team of CAH and the paramedics for the wonderful care and dedication during Jimmy’s short illness and for the compassion portrayed to all our family. Thanks to Father Liam McKinney who called and prayed with Jimmy at the hospital which he sincerely appreciated so much. Thanks also to Father Barry Matthews, Father Peter McAnenly and Father Leo Traynor (Ballygawley & Malawi) who called to see us during the wake and kept us in their prayers.
Our undertaker Martin Kelly and staff have been outstanding, taking care of our every need throughout the wake and funeral in such a dignified and respectful manner, we also thank the grave digger Brian Nugent and Bernie Gribben in the Parish office at Ballymacnab.
A sincere thanks to Mark Haughey (catering) who provided very welcome refreshments after the funeral in Lislea Community Centre. We are indebted to the magnificent Lislea Committee and neighbours who worked tirelessly in the kitchen, ensuring that everyone who came was served promptly.
Whilst it is impossible to thank everyone individually, we apologise if anyone has been omitted from this acknowledgement.
Jimmy’s Month Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church Ballymacnab on Friday 16th May at 7:30pm.
