James Corey,
Omagh, Co Tyrone
Died 9th May 2026

The recent untimely loss of our much loved James has left a deep void in the lives and hearts of all who knew and loved him. James was a widely respected gentleman and an integral and valued member of the local community, but primarily he was a devoted family man. Precious husband of Sharon, adored father of Josh (Emma), Emma-Rose and Aaron. Much loved son of the late Seamus and Florence, brother of Thomas, Paul, Mary (late Gerry), Claire (Liam), and the late Christopher. Son in law of Timothy and Sylvia, brother in law of Jason, Rachel, Warren, Frank and the late Timothy Jnr, and a dearly loved uncle, cousin and friend.

We his family are all heartbroken at the loss of James, but we are greatly consoled by the outpouring of support, loving care and attention shown to us by all who crossed our paths, both during James’s illness and at his wake and funeral. We wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us.

Thank you to everyone who called to the wake at our home. Sincere thanks to everyone who assisted at the wake. Thank you to those who brought food and to those who gave so generously of their time to serve food and tea, your kindness and support were truly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who telephoned, sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, flowers or donations in lieu for Marie Curie. Thank you to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the Requiem Mass, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us.

We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and the wider community, throughout this difficult time, your support has helped us in so many ways, to find strength and grieve together as a family.

A special word of thanks to Very Rev. Father Kevin McElhennon P.P for his spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, Eucharist ministers, and our singers Marie Molley, Caoimhe Cunningham and Oonagh Boyle, who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music, which added so much to the funeral service. To our sign language interpreter Amanda Coogan, our deepest thanks. Our thanks also to the Enda Dolan Foundation for their guard of honour, James would have loved this, and it meant a lot to us as a family.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Eamon for preparing James’s final resting place. Also to Sheenagh of Bumblebee Garden for the beautiful floral tributes, and to the ladies in St. Patrick’s Hall, Dromore for the most welcome refreshments after the burial.

And finally we would like to sincerely thank all the medical professionals with whom James came into contact, especially his doctors, staff of the Cancer Ward Altnagelvin Hospital, and the Marie Curie Nurses for the kindness and compassion shown both to James and our family.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.

James is loved and missed every day. May his gentle, kind and generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Omagh on Saturday 13th June 2026 at 5.30pm. Our Lady pray for him.
