26th November 2022.

John passed away peacefully on the 26th November 2022. A widely respected and dearly beloved family man, he was a devoted and deeply treasured husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father- in-law, uncle and friend.

We, his family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for, and supported us through our recent sad bereavement. We would like to acknowledge all those who paid their respects in any way including those who called to the house, telephoned, sent sympathy cards, flowers or donation in lieu of flowers to Care for Cancer and to those who left messages online or via social media. A heartfelt thank you as well to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the funeral service.

Sincere thanks to all our relatives, friends and neighbours who have helped us in so many ways, throughout the wake, the funeral and now afterwards, to support us in our grief as a family.

A special word of thanks to Reverend Clarke Deering for his support and for a very moving funeral service which really captured the essence of John. We convey our appreciation also to everyone who assisted with the funeral service, especially our musician Anne Thompson B.E.M who provided the beautiful music and to our Piper, Ronnie Moore, at the Cemetery.

A special thank you also to McAtee Funeral Directors, especially Patrick McAtee, who provided an exceptional service, supporting us through a very difficult period and organizing a beautiful and dignified funeral. Our thanks also to McAtees Bar and Restaurant who provided the refreshments after the funeral.

We would also like to thank the staff in community care, the District Nursing Team, Meadowbank Care Home and the South West Acute Hospital, for their outstanding care during John’s illness.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude and appreciation.

John is ever loved and greatly missed by his wife Annie, daughter Michelle, son Colin, grandchildren Rachel, Chloe and Megan, great grandchildren Liam, Alexandria and Tommy, his sons and daughter in law, David, Frances, Oliver and Andrew, and his entire family circle and friends. To know him, was to love him.
