The family of the late John Desmond (Desi) Smyth would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with us on our recent sad bereavement.

We would like to thank all who attended the wake at Ballycassidy Funeral Home and the funeral service in Cleenish Parish Church, Bellanaleck. We are also grateful to our neighbours and friends who offered their condolences, and to those who sent messages of sympathy via social media. Your kindness and thoughtfulness brought us great comfort during this sad and difficult time.

Sincere thanks to everyone who sent sympathy cards, telephoned the family, and kindly donated to Cleenish Parish Church funds in memory of our father.

We extend our grateful thanks to Canon Jen McWhirter for conducting the funeral service, for her pastoral care of our father both at home and in hospital, and for the support she provided to the entire family throughout his illness and since his passing.

We would also like to thank Saddlers for providing refreshments following the wake.

A special word of thanks is extended to the staff of the Cardiac Unit and Wards 2 and 8 at South West Acute Hospital for the compassion and care shown to our father during his illness. We are also deeply grateful to the Community Respiratory Team for their support and care of both our father and the family over many months, and to the Community Nursing Team for their regular attendance and care at his home. Our sincere thanks also go to Drs Toal and Maguire and their team for the care they provided to our father over the years.

We would like to thank the grave diggers for preparing the grave, Mrs Joan Brownlee for playing the organ, and the members of the church who assisted with the service.

Our sincere thanks are extended to Mr Keith Elliott of W.T. Morrison Funeral Directors and all his staff for their exceptional support, guidance, and the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out. We are extremely grateful for the compassion and care they showed our family at this very sad time.

As we continue to grieve the loss of both our parents, we appreciate that we may inadvertently have omitted to thank everyone who supported us over the past three months, and we ask for your understanding.

We trust this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation.

Jonathan, Jeremy, Fiona, Susan and Families.
