The family of the late John Francis (Johnny) Girvan would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us during our recent sad loss.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Johnny throughout his life, especially the dedicated Nurses, Carers and Staff of Corkhill Care Centre. We will forever remain grateful for your care and dedication to Johnny the last number of years and to ensuring he had a comfortable and enjoyable residency there. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the staff and residents who gave Johnny such a beautiful send off on his final journey from Corkhill, this has left an indelible memory for all our family of his time there.

Our thanks go to all the kind Friends and Neighbours who provided and served refreshments during the wake, called at the house, brought gifts, sent messages of sympathy, telephoned, attended the funeral or helped in any other way.
Our sincere gratitude to Fr. Lawrence Boyle, Fr. Brian Slater and Fr. David Moore for their spiritual guidance during the wake and celebration of Johnny’s beautiful Requiem Mass. Thanks also to Fr Gerard McAleer and Fr David Moore for their attendance to Johnny at Corkhill Care Centre during his final days there.

A special word of thanks to the Church Sacristan, Margaret McAleer and also to Gerry Loughran for the beautiful music and singing which made Johnny’s Funeral Mass so special. Our grateful thanks to Annie Dynes who sang ‘Slatequarry’ so beautifully at Johnnys graveside.

Thanks to the gravediggers who prepared Johnny’s resting place with great care.
Thank you to Seamus McNally and his staff who provided a lovely meal after Johnny’s burial and to the Slatequarry Community Association for the use of the Hall afterwards.

We would sincerely like to thank Niall A Loughran Funeral directors for the dignified and professional manner in which they carried out all the funeral arrangements.

As it is not possible to thank everyone individually, we trust this acknowledgement will be accepted as a small gesture of our sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Johnny’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 28th of July 2024 in the Sacred Heart Church, Rock at 10.30am. Everyone welcome for light refreshments afterwards in Rock Community Hub.
