John Lagan, Garvallagh Road, Fintona, Co Tyrone.
Died 30th July 2025.
John passed away peacefully on the 30th July surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted family man, husband of Philomena, much loved father of Fionnuala, Corinna, Sinead, Orla, Emmet and Stephen, father-in-law of Michael, Ciaran, Brian, Damian, Ann and Maria. Dearly loved grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. We, his family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us through our recent sad bereavement.
Thank you to everyone who called to the wake house. Sincere thanks to our great friends and relations who brought food and helped at the wake house. A special word of thanks to the amazing Garvallagh community and surrounding neighbours for their very important role in traffic management. Our thanks also to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, or flowers, lined the funeral route and to those who joined us at the Requiem Mass.
We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, your support throughout this difficult time has helped us in so many ways, to grieve as a family.
A special word of thanks to Father Sean Mulligan CC for his many visits to John during his illness and for his prayers during the very comforting Requiem Mass. Many thanks also to Canon McGahon, who concelebrated John’s funeral mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan Mary and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, the musicians and the grandchildren that participated in the funeral Mass.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing John’s final resting place. Also to Sheenagh of Bumblebee Garden for the beautiful floral tributes, and to the The Bridge Tavern, Eskra for an outstanding dinner after the burial.
Thank you to the Lagan Energy staff members for their Guard of honour, John would have loved this, and it meant a lot to us as a family.
And finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the health professionals with whom John came into contact, especially Nigel and his team in Fintona Medical Hall, Care Plus and all the carers, especially Brigid and Claire, Beragh District Nursing, Rapid Response Omagh, Musgrave Park Hospital, Fintona Medical Centre, the Palliative Care team Omagh/Enniskillen and a special mention to Marie Curie. John is loved and missed every day. May his gentle soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Saturday 30th August at 10am. Our Lady pray for him.
