The death has occurred of:
John Downey
The son, daughters and extended family of the late John Downey, wish to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported us during our recent bereavement.
We thank all those who looked after daddy so well, especially the doctors, nurses and receptionists of Bellaghy Medical Centre, the staff of Bellaghy Pharmacy, the Respiratory Team, the Marie Curie and Northern Ireland Hospice support staff and Noreen and Roisin, his dedicated carers.
Thank you to Fr. Graham, Fr. Harkin and Fr. McErlean, who provided daddy and our family with spiritual support, to his friends who took the time to visit him and to everyone associated with the Lavey Young at Heart Club, of which he was a valued member.
Thanks also to family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues who telephoned our home, attended daddy’s wake/funeral, sent Mass/sympathy cards/flowers and provided food, including Patricia and the staff of Bryson’s Magherafelt.
We also thank everyone who contributed to making daddy’s funeral Mass so special, namely, Fr. Graham and Fr. McErlean, Bronach and Sean, who provided the beautiful music, those who read and carried up the offertory gifts, the sacristan, car park attendants and those who prepared the grave.
Thank you also to Erin’s Own Lavey/Termoneeney Community Association for the use of your premises after the funeral and to Mary and her team for providing refreshments.
Finally, we would like to thank Mickey and Nicholas Gormley of J. A. Gormley Funeral Directors, Maghera, for the caring, professional and dignified manner in which they conducted the funeral arrangements.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our sincere appreciation.
John’s Month’s Mind mass will be celebrated at 7.00 p.m. on Saturday, 2nd July in the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Lavey. The Mass will be streamed live on the Church webcam: https://churchmedia.tv/church-of-our-lady-of-mercy
