Gallen
John
Late of 27 Shanaghy Road, Castlederg

The family of the late John Gallen, who passed away on the 1st May 2025 wish to express sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to them on their recent sad loss. John is sorely missed by his daughters Marie, Berlinda and Michelle, sons in law Eugene and Damien, grandchildren Patrick(Aine), Aislean (Aaron), Erin, Seannan, Cahill, Emer and Turloch, great-grandchildren Riley, Connlaoth, Callan and Dayna.
John was also a dearly loved brother, uncle, cousin, neighbour and friend to many.

Our thanks to all those who helped prepare the home, attended the wake and funeral or watched it online, sent cards or messages of sympathy via text and social media, provided food gifts or minibus transport and also to those family, neighbours and friends who worked tirelessly in the home providing refreshments and outside the home in traffic management and car parking, we are forever grateful. It has given us great comfort in knowing that dad was so well thought of by so many.

Our heartfelt thanks to Fr Paul Fraser for his pastoral care and spiritual support to dad in recent months in particular and for the beautiful, deeply meaningful and fitting funeral mass, to Fr John Gilmore for his friendship and spiritual support to dad over many years and for con-celebrating the funeral mass, to Fr Victor (The Graan)
and to Fr Feargus and his colleagues in Rossnowlagh Friary for their spiritual support to dad over many years also, to Father Paddy Doherty, Monsignor Andy Dolan, Fr Patsy Arkinson and Fr Thomas Canning. Their care and words of comfort at the wake and in recent weeks has been a tremendous support to family.

Our sincere thanks to all who participated in dad’s Requiem mass as your contribution helped make it special, to Teresa and Aislean for the beautiful music, the Eucharistic ministers including Collette whose weekly visits to dad in recent months were a great source of spiritual comfort to him, to our sacristans Veronica and Danny, to Charles Lynch Funeral Director for his dignity, professionalism and support throughout, to Aghyaran St Davog’s GAC for the use of the centre and preparing the refreshments after the funeral mass and to our family and friends entrusted with preparing dad’s final resting place with such care and respect.

We as a family are indebted to the medical and nursing staff in the Palliative Care Unit, Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex and to Naomi and Bronnie from The Foyle Hospice Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurse Team for their invaluable care and compassion to dad and support to us in his final weeks.

Many thanks also to all the health care professionals who have supported dad in recent years, in particular Dr Rachel McCrabbe, her GP colleagues and all the staff at Castlederg Group Surgery for their medical attention and unfailing support over recent years.

Many thanks goes to all those neighbours and friends who visited and supported dad at home and to all those who helped us care for dad at home in particular Amanda, Breige and Kara for your invaluable friendship and support to dad.

As it is impossible to thank everyone, please accept this as an acknowledgment of our sincere appreciation to anyone who provided support in any way.

Dad’s Month Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church Aghyaran on Saturday 31st May at 7.30pm and can be viewed via webcam.
