Acknowledgement.
Johnny McLaughlin MBE Fintona, Co Tyrone.

Johnny passed away peacefully on the 2nd August after a long and industrious life, largely devoted to helping people. He was a widely respected, hard-working advocate, but primarily a devoted family man. Devoted husband of Olive, adored father of Steven, Amanda, Michelle, Geraldine, Yvonne and John, father-in-law of Charlie, Ian, Patrick and Tony. Dearly loved grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. We, his family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us through our recent sad bereavement.

Thank you to everyone who called to the wake in Grianan House Funeral Home. Sincere thanks to all who brought food and helped, this was greatly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, flowers, donated to marie curie, lined the funeral route and to those who joined us at the Requiem Mass.

We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours, and work colleagues throughout this difficult time. Your kindness has helped us in so many ways, allowing us to grieve and find strength together as a family.

A special word of thanks to Father Christopher McDermott for his spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and musician Sinead McLaughlin who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.

We are sincerely grateful to Father Sean Mulligan for his visits to Johnny at home during his illness, and to Rev. Ollie, who was a great source of comfort to Johnny and the family throughout his final days.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravediggers for preparing Johnny’s final resting place. Also to Sheenagh of Bumblebee Garden for the beautiful floral tributes, and to the The Silverbirch Hotel for the most welcome refreshments after the burial.

And finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the medical professionals who cared for Johnny, especially Dr. Darcy and Dr. Quinn from the Grange Family Practice. We are also deeply grateful to social services, the rapid response team, the Beragh district nurses, palliative care staff, and Marie Curie. Your kindness, compassion, and the respect you showed to Johnny meant so much to us.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude. Your support, kindness, and presence during this difficult time have meant more to us than words can express.

Johnny is loved and missed every day. May his passionate, kind, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Omagh on Friday 5th September at 7.30pm.
