Uncle John you were one in a million and loved very much by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. I have so many wonderful memories of you growing up that I will always remember. From the Donald Duck impressions to all the mesmerising tricks you did making things appear and disappear before my very eyes.
Then of course from I was no age asking what horse to bet in the Grand National every year. If Uncle John was betting on that horse then that was always good enough for me.
And then you also got tortured after the race by everyone asking how much money they had won. They broke the mould when they made you.

Grandad these last couple of days have been the hardest days of my life. They have been hard for us all. It goes to show the effect and the impact you had on our family, we have lost the rock of our family.

I am grateful that we shared so many memories which I will cherish forever. But I will honestly miss the small things like calling in on a Saturday afternoon and watching the racing with you. You could always tell how your horse was doing by the volume of the TV.

You have taught me so much about life and how not to let it get you down. You had a major impact on my life and how I turned out. I can only hope to become half the man you were.

I have been reading everyone's post about you and although my eyes are filled with tears, my heart is filled with pride that I was lucky enough to call you my Grandad.

Uncle John you will be sorely missed. I'm left with so many fond memories of you when I was growing up. I was always sitting beside you on the arm of your chair or swinging around your neck, my mum shouting at me to leave you alone and you telling her I was doing no harm and she was to leave me alone instead. All the rhymes and tricks you taught me with pen and paper or shaking my hands and clicking all my bones together. My fondest memory though was at a big party in your house one night when the Karaoke came out and you, full drunk of course, trying to sing New York, New York and getting all the words wrong but not caring and just belting it out anyway while I laughed and encouraged you.

My grandad was a great man. He taught me so much and brought me love & joy. I remember when I was a little kid. I thought he was the smartest person in the world. Not just for always, being able to help me with homeworks, but also, remember him always answering all the questions on who wants to be a millionaire and I thought "wow" he needs to go on and win for us all.
My Grandad taught me to play chess, not that I was able to win. I think everyone knows how much I love star wars. I remember coming home from school it would be just me and grandad and he would say go get your light sabers and from his chair we would sit and play. I tortured him when he got sky+ we would watch the same scooby doo cartoons over and over. When I was a little older I wanted to be a comic book writer, so I decided to make my own superheroes and off course one was called John Rainey.
My Grandad was always funny making jokes and winding me up. On Sunday's nanny, grandad and me would have a movie day and one of the last films we watched was Jojo Rabbit and once it was over he laughingly goes "Michael no harm son that was s****.
Just last week I had my home graduation. I got a photo with my Grandad and at the time I never knew how special that would be for me. I am so happy to have got that.
This week has been so hard for me, I loved my grandad so much. I know he would be so proud of the strength of our family, especially my nanny, mum, Amanda and Sonya. When I was younger I drew him as a superhero but I never had to because he always was one.
