The death has occurred of:
Leslie (Fender) Shields
Lydia, Sammy, Ashley, Beth, Maisen, Mollie, Les and all Leslie’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who sympathized with them over the loss of Leslie.
Thank you to all who called at the home to pay their respects or who sent cards of condolence. These gestures meant so much to the family. For all those who attended the funeral in person and to those 1600 plus people who watched the funeral on YouTube — this shows us just how much Leslie was thought of and the larger than life character he was.
We would like to give a special mention of thanks to a few special people who helped and supported Leslie and the family during tough times:-
To Reverend Bryan Martin whose presence Leslie and the family so much appreciated during Leslie’s last eight months and indeed whose continuing friendship the family still enjoy. Also a special mention to Mrs. Shirley Crutchley whose home visits Leslie very much enjoyed.
To Samuel and Ruth Hamilton for their visits and prayers and special friendship with Leslie.
To all the girls at Moneydarragh Flexicare team who took care of Leslie while he was at home. Everyone brought a smile to his face on their daily visits.
To the Annalong pharmacy, the Palliative Care team from the Primary Care Centre Kilkeel and the staff of the Ulster and Down Hospitals for their continuing care during Leslie’s illness.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Old Forge Surgery, in particular to Dr. Keown who Leslie had a
special affection for. The family feel blessed to have had her at their and Leslie’s side during his illness. A sum of over £1400 was donated on behalf of Leslie and donated to Old Forge Surgery and we sincerely thank all those who gave so generously.
Final thanks go to Jimmy Annett for the funeral arrangements and to all at Kilhorne Parish Church for the effort put in by everyone over Leslie’s funeral.
As it is impossible thank everyone individually who helped in some way, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation. Thank you.
