Mairead Gray

30th December 2023

Husband John, daughter Jayne, son’s Jason and Simon, brothers Pauric and John and the entire family circle, would like to take this opportunity to express their deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised and supported them following the death of their beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother Mairead.

We would like to acknowledge those who paid their respects in many ways, from our special neighbours, friends, and also to Mairead’s highly valued customers at 29 Darling Street, Enniskillen and to those who sent mass and sympathy cards, made phone calls, those who left messages of sympathy in the post and online, attended our house. Thank you to the large crowd that attended Mairead’s funeral mass, including those who joined online as well as those who attended the burial in Ardess as well as the funeral tea. This was very much appreciated.

We would like to mention all those who travelled long distances to offer their condolences, it is very much appreciated and your efforts did not go unnoticed. All of the support, thoughts and prayers were greatly appreciated, as well as those who brought and served food for the family. A special word of thanks to Father McManus and Father McVeigh who celebrated the heart-felt funeral mass, to Reverend Abraham Storey for the fitting burial and to the McSorley sisters (Omagh) for the exceptional singing. Thank you to Ardess Parish and their dedicated members, for the food and refreshments after the funeral in their hall and to the grave-diggers for their work. A special thank you to the PSNI for their professionalism and for their assistance with traffic on the day of the funeral and to our funeral director, Mr Jim Barnett for his dignified and compassionate funeral arrangements.

A special word of thanks to all Doctors and Nurses who provided the care and assistance to Mairead in a difficult journey, most notably to her own GP, Doctor McDonald (Irvinestown), Doctor Kennedy and his team at Belfast City Hospital, Doctor O’Neill, Yvonne Black and their team at Altnagelvin Hospital and more latterly the staff at SWAH, especially Ruth, Claire, Zoe, Niamh, Rebeckah, John, Penny and Geraldine and also a
worthy thank you to the Palliative Care Team, led by Viviene, Claire-Ann and Doctor Peter McElroy. Also a particular mention to and to Brendan Lilley and his staff at the Medical Hall, Irvinestown as well as District Nurses, Denise and Yvonne.

Also to Father McManus, Father McGahan, Canon Irwin and Reverend Storey who provided spiritual support to both Mairead and her family during her sickness. Finally, thank you to all who made donations to Marie Curie and British Red Cross in lieu of flowers, both of these charities will benefit greatly from your kind generosity. It is impossible to thank everyone individually and please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our heart-felt appreciation and gratitude.
