Called home to glory 17 ­­­­­­­July, 2023, aged 98, peacefully in Park Manor Nursing Home, Dunmurry, late of Locksley Gardens, Finaghy and formerly of Sarajac Crescent, North Belfast. Beloved wife of the late Rev Charles Garland, dear mother of her only child Sidney (Sid), loving mother-in-law of Jean, and dearly-loved grandmother of Peter and his wife Karen, Debbie and her husband Ian, and Anna and her husband Sam, and much-loved great-grandmother to Charlie, Owen, Miriam, Joshua, Gideon, Marissa, Kate and Patrick.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the home of her son at 17 Glenburn Ford, Dunmurry, Belfast, BT17 9BF.

Family flowers only please; donations in lieu, if desired, for Africa Christian Textbooks (ACTS) can be directed via the UFM website: www.ufm.org.uk/give indicating that the gift is for “ACTS in memory of Mrs Garland”. Alternatively, by cheque (payable to UFM Worldwide) sent to UFM Office,14 Glencregagh Court, Belfast BT6 0PA with a note stating that it is in memory of Mrs Garland. Funeral Services on ­­­­­­­­21st July: 2.00pm for interment at Crumlin New Cemetery, BT29 4AF, followed by a Thanksgiving Service at ­­3.30pm in Finaghy Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Locksley Gardens, Belfast, BT10 0EB.

Maisie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all the family circle, as well as the wider church family. We grieve, but not as those who have no hope: we know that she is already resting “with Christ, which is better by far” (Galatians 1:23) and that one day she will rise again in glory (1 Corinthians 15).
