Mary Hughes
Gortmerron Brantry. Died 17th May 2026.
We the family of the late Mary Hughes wish to express our sincere gratitude to all those who sympathised with us on our recent bereavement.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the wake and funeral, sent cards, online tributes and gifts of food and to all those who helped in any way. We are deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by our extended family, friends and neighbours.
We would like to convey our deep gratitude to Fr John Heagney for the moving funeral mass. A heartfelt thanks to all who took part in the mass, to those who said readings and prayers, presented gifts, took part in the offertory procession, the Eucharist ministers and to Pat Treanor and Éadaoin & Kiera Donnelly for the beautiful music.
We would also like to sincerely thank Mary’s carers Elizabeth Knipe and Jenny Ewing as well as her friends & neighbours Pauline and Donal McAnallen, Evelyn Downey, Laura Quinn, Clare Daly, & Jim Daly who all showed Mary so much kindness and have been so generous with their time over the years.
Thank you to Eglish Parochial Hall and KC Marquees for the use of equipment over the wake and to the staff of Quinn’s Corner who provided food following the funeral.
Thank you to the staff of Daly’s Service Station for their touching guard of honour on the funeral route.
A sincere word of thanks to undertakers Paudge and Eoin Quinn for the very professional and dignified way in which they carried out the funeral arrangements.
We are also deeply grateful to Aidan Hughes and Michael Donnelly for preparing Mary’s final resting place and to sacristan Dermot Quinn for preparing the chapel.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our sincere appreciation.
Mary’s months mind mass will be celebrated on Monday 15th June at 7:30pm in St Patrick’s Church Eglish.
