We the family of the late Michael R.I.P. wish to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and kindness shown to us during his illness, long stay in hospital and more recently on his death.

Our sincere thanks to Fr Cargan for his pastoral care, celebrating the Funeral Mass and especially the meaningful homily and treasured references to Downhill. Thanks also to the the many local priests for their spiritual support and comfort.

Our heartfelt thanks to Eugene, John, Declan and Rory for their help and support; to Carolyn and Michael Mawhinney for the beautiful music, to Aileen and the grandchildren for participating in the funeral liturgy and James for his Eucharistic Ministry. Thanks to all those who provided traffic control and a special thanks to Wishy Drain for preparing Michael’s grave.

Thanks to the Staff and pupils of St Columba’s PS Kilrea and to all those who came to pay their respects; the guard of honour that accompanied Michael on his journey to the church through the streets of his beloved Kilrea is something we will never forget.

We extend our thanks to our family circle, friends, the Seven Towers Male Voice Choir and the wider community for all the mass cards, sympathy cards, letters, text messages, flowers, food, phone calls, tributes on social media and to all those who made charitable donations.

Thanks to the staff of the Royal and City Hospitals and especially to Ward 29 and the staff of E.N.T.; to Dr Grainne, Dr. McCormack and Dr. McAuley, the District Nurses and the staff of Kilrea Health Centre, to The Marie Curie and Hospice Teams who were so kind, caring and enjoyed Michael’s sense of humour; also to Martin and his staff at Shield’s Pharmacy and to Anne at Roe Pharmacy Dungiven. All of you ensured that Michael was treated with care, dignity and respect throughout his illness.

The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered in appreciation of your kindness to us at this difficult time.
