Michael Mclaughlin

The wife and family of the late Michael McLaughlin of 32 Lavery Fold and formerly of Templegrove, Derry, wish to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss.

We offer our hearfelt thanks to the many family members, friends, neighbours and residents from Lavery Fold and well-wishers who attended the Chapel of Rest and St Eugene's Cathedral grounds during the Requiem Mass, especially to family and friends in France and across the world who watched the Mass via the Cathedral webcam video link and indeed to the Cathedral for this marvellous facility, and those who attended the burial at Our Lady of Lourdes, Inch Island. Also to those who provided emotional and loving support for us at this difficult time. For those who telephoned, travelled long distances and to all those who sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolences, and U3A, Paul's Campaign and the Columba Community for their tributes, as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful.

A special word of thanks to all the staff at Altnagelvin Hospital, Ward 4 in Waterside Hospital, Dr Stephen Todd, and nurses and staff at Edenballymore Lodge, the many wonderful Carers who looked after Michael in Lavery Fold, Dr Nicola Duffy and all the staff at Oakleaf Medical Practice and Social Workers Marian Brosnan and Siobhan Brown, for their utmost kindness, respect, help, care and support shown at all times. Thanks also to the emergency services who looked after Michael on 11 January. We also dearly appreciate the loving support given by Adrian Sharkey and Ann Doherty from Carnhill Resource Centre, Julie from the Churches' Trust, Mona and staff from the Chest, Heart and Stroke Association as well as Fiona from Melodies and Memories. Also to Michael's former colleagues from Derry Tech and to City of Derry Swimming Club for their proud guards of honour; to all those who participated in the Mass, especially Fr Patrick Lagan, Michael's brother Robert for the beautiful eulogy, the readers, and the singer Ann-Marie Hickey, and organist Aidan Watkins; Fr Fintan Diggin who officiated at the burial, and finally, W.J. O'Brien's Funeral Directors for their sensitive and professional handling of arrangements in such difficult times.

To those who helped in any way, your contribution, love, prayers and support made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our sincere gratitude, we will keep you all in our prayers. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
St Michael, St Pio and Our Lady of Medjugorje intercede for Michael.
May his soul rest in peace.
