Neil Patrick Donnelly, 85, of Mahwah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 2, 2026. Neil was born on June 8, 1940, to the late Patrick and Ellen Donnelly of Sixmilecross, County Tyrone, Ireland. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Maureen), loving father of Patrick (Tara), and Kevin. Cherished and devoted Papa of Anna and Ava. Dear brother of John, Kathleen, the late Michael, Anne, Celine, Peggy, Mona, Desmond, Hugh, Mary, and Donal. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Neil was proud of his service in the U.S. Army as a military police officer while stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon leaving the service, he settled in Brooklyn, NY where he met the love of his life, Maureen, and made many lifelong friends and memories. Neil and Maureen then moved to their forever-home in Mahwah, NJ which was the epicenter of many pool parties and barbecues.

Neil’s career began at NY Telephone as a service technician, for which he worked for over many decades. Neil was also a proud member of the NJ Choral Society, for which he was a part of for many years. He also used his singing talents as a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary choir of Mahwah, NJ. Neil was an avid outdoorsman enjoying many hikes with friends throughout New Jersey.

During his retirement, Neil spent his time volunteering at St. Luke’s Church, playing for countless hours with his beloved grandchildren, enjoying a great game of Scrabble during Sunday family dinners, and vacationing with family in his beloved native Ireland.

Most of all, Neil is known for his selflessness, service to others, faith, and overall caring nature. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave., Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. in Mahwah. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery.
