Oliver M. DUNNE
Acknowledgement
The late Oliver M Dunne, died 21st April 2022
We, Oliver’s wife, Marie, his daughters, Laura and Elena, son, Peter, daughters-in-law, Angie and Tasha, brother Frank, sisters Mary, Bridie and Gerri, and the wider family circle, wish to sincerely thank everyone who supported us through our sad loss.
We thank family, friends at home and abroad, colleagues and neighbours who called to the house, brought or sent cards and letters, provided refreshments both for visitors and the family and helped out in whatever way they could. We particularly want to thank Tracy and Liam Duffy and their two daughters Lauryn and Emma who stayed with us throughout the wake, Mass and cremation and did everything they could to ease our burden.
We thank Dr Lee Casey, Abbey Medical Practice, who supported us from the beginning of Oliver’s cancer journey and was always on call at any time, day or night. His caring, compassionate support will never be forgotten.
We thank Professor David Stewart and the staff of the Radiotherapy Department at the North West Cancer Centre, as well as the Nurses, Mary and Blossom, at the Covid screening desk, for their kindness and professionalism.
We thank the Foyle Hospice Community Nurses, the Marie Curie Nurses and the Abbey Medical Practice Community Nurses who attended Oliver with good humour, compassion and professionalism.
We thank Denis of Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors, for guiding us with kindness through all the practical details of the wake and funeral.
If we have missed anyone, we apologise. So many people showed us so much care and kindness over this past year. Please know that we are grateful and for those who would appreciate it, a Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Oliver…
“Though we need to weep your loss,
You dwell in that safe place in our hearts,
Where no storm or night or pain can reach you.
May you continue to inspire us:
Until we see your beautiful face again
In that land where there is no more separation,
Where all tears will be wiped from our mind,
And where we will never lose you again”
(Extract from ‘On the Death of the Beloved’ – John O’Donohue).
