McDONALD
Patrick (Paddy Joe)
Creggan, Carrickmore.
Died 11th September 2023
The nephews and nieces of the late Paddy Joe McDonald wish to express our sincere gratitude to all those who sympathised and supported us in so many ways, on the sad loss of our cherished Uncle.
We thank the staff in Ward 7, South West Acute Hospital for their care and attention to Paddy, who was happy and content during his time there.
We are deeply appreciative to all the staff in Rivervale Nursing home for their care and support especially during Paddy’s final days. Their professional care and spiritual support to Paddy, and kindness to us as a family, was outstanding in every way for which we will be forever grateful.
We are deeply grateful to Monsignor Curry and Fr Hughes, for their visits to Paddy and for their spiritual support during his final hours.
We thank sincerely our kind relatives, friends and neighbours, who helped and supported us in so many ways. We thank those who cooked and brought food and gifts, and those who made tea throughout the wake.
We are grateful to those who organised the traffic and car-parking.
We sincerely thank those who called at the house during the wake, those who sent mass and sympathy cards, floral tributes and sent messages via phone calls and social media.
We thank all those who visited Paddy in his home, in South West Acute Hospital, and in Rivervale Nursing Home.
We thank those who supported us on the morning of the funeral, including those who carried Paddy on his final journey and those who stood along the route of the funeral; we were deeply moved by the children in St. Colmcille’s Primary School who stood silent as the funeral passed by; we are deeply appreciative to everyone.
We thank sincerely those who attended the funeral and viewed the mass on-line. We thank all those who contributed to Paddy’s funeral mass, including the sacristan, the Eucharistic ministers, and Eamon Donnelly and Sinead Moncreiff for providing the lovely music and singing.
A special word of thanks to Fr. McAnenly for his visit during the wake and for the fitting homily which so well reflected Paddy’s life. We also thank the grave diggers for the preparation of Paddy’s final resting place.
Our grateful thanks to Jimmy Fox and Ryan McCallan who carried out the funeral arrangements in such a professional manner and the staff of the Old Charm Inn for providing the refreshments after the funeral.
We have lasting and treasured memories of Paddy and all the McDonald family. His passing is truly the end of an era. Paddy is ever loved and greatly missed. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Paddy’s month’s mind mass will be celebrated on Monday 16th October at 7.30pm in St Colmcille’s Church, Carrickmore.
We trust this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our heartfelt thanks and appreciation.
