Carson October 1st 2021 peacefully at his home, Giants Ring House, Ballylesson Road, Drumbo, Robert M.B.E. dearly loved husband of the late Diana, much loved father of Sara and Rachel, dear father in law of Gordon and brother of the late Anne and David.

Funeral Service (following covid guidelines) at 12.00pm on Thursday in Fisherwick Presbyterian Church (live streamed on Fisherwick Presbyterian Church's YouTube channel), burial afterwards in First Kilraughts Presbyterian Graveyard at 2.00pm.

House private.

Donations in leu of flowers, if desired, to the Corrymeela Community, Ballycastle c/o D.J.M. Robinson & Son, 121 Culcrum Road, Cloughmills, BT44 9DT.

“And now these three remain, faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”.

I was very sorry to hear that Robert had passed away, and I’m sorry that I can’t be at the funeral to pay my respects, but I would like to express my condolences to the family.

I will always remember Robert as an inspirational person for those who worked with him – inspirational on a professional level, but also on a personal level. Robert was an indisputable pioneer in his field and yet he was generous with his time and encouraging of younger colleagues. I always enjoyed my chats with Robert, especially when the subject turned to photography.

When we left Beechill House, I held onto the copy of Robert’s printed archive that had sat on our reception desk. Leafing through it now I’m reminded of Robert’s vast body of work – there aren’t many people who have left such a heritage as Robert has, and I hope that can be of some consolation to his family at this very sad time.
