Ruairi McKenna, Fintona, Co Tyrone.
Died 8th August 2025.
The recent loss of our much loved Ruairi has left a deep void in the lives and hearts of all who knew and loved him. Ruairi was a widely respected gentleman, but primarily he was a devoted family man, adored son of Eamon and Vanda. Husband of Rita. Treasured father of Oisín and Paudge. Cherished brother of Cathal (Aileen) and Jolene (Declan). Son in law of Kate, much loved uncle, cousin and friend. We, his family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us through our recent sad bereavement.
Thank you to everyone who called to the wake in Grianan House Funeral Home. Sincere thanks to all who brought food and to those who helped serve tea, this was greatly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who telephoned, sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, flowers or donations in lieu, lined the funeral route or joined us at the Requiem Mass, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us.
We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, throughout this difficult time, your support has helped us in so many ways, to grieve as a family.
A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan for coming out to the house on the night Ruairi passed away, and for his spiritual support. Sincere thanks also to Father Pádraig MacKenna PP for his spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan Mary and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and musician Plunkett McGartland and Soloist Sinead Taggart, who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Ruairi’s final resting place. Also to Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the beautiful floral tribute, and to the St. Patrick’s Hall ladies for the most welcome refreshments after the burial.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Ruairi is loved and missed every day. May his gentle, kind, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Friday 12th September at 7.30pm. Our Lady pray for him.
