Month's Mind Mass / Acknowledgement

Sadie Matthewson (née Rodden)

The family of the late Sadie Matthewson, 38 Lisfannon Park, Derry, wish to express their sincere gratitude to all who supported us following her passing. We are very thankful to everyone who called at her home, offered condolences, sent Mass cards and sympathy cards, phoned or texted, gave donations, sent flowers and attended the wake and funeral.

A special word of thanks to our extended family, friends and neighbours for their invaluable help and support during Sadie’s illness and the wake.

To all the medical, nursing and care staff who cared for mum during her illnesses, especially Dr. Devlin, Natalie and Dr. Mc Conville, the district nurse team, the care staff from Glen Caring, North West Care, the Trust overnight team, the Acute Care team, the Marie Curie team, the staff from Sweeney’s Chemist and Nigel Johnston from the Western Trust; we are sincerely grateful for your kindness, compassion and care.

Special thanks to the pupils and staff of Holy Family Primary and Nursery School and the players and staff of Jon Clifford’s Tristar Football Club for their guard of honour at the funeral, we are sincerely grateful.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Paul Farren for the lovely celebration of Sadie’s life at the Requiem Mass and for his beautiful tribute during the homily. We also thank Fr. Paul for his pastoral and spiritual care for mum during her illness. Thank you to Fr. Joe Gormley for concelebrating the funeral mass and attending the wake. Thanks to Fr. Shaun Doherty, Fr. Kevin Mulhern and Fr. Sean O’ Donnell for attending the wake. The support and compassion of all the clergy was deeply appreciated and the prayers at the home and at the graveside brought comfort to our family.

Thank you to Charlotte Logue, organist, Anne Marie Hickey, singer, and Ruth Matthewson, singer, for the beautiful music during the funeral mass which brought peace and spiritual comfort to the family.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors for your thoughtful, dignified and professional handling of all the funeral arrangements.

While it is impossible to thank everyone personally, please be assured that we are extremely grateful to all for every prayer said, thought given or hug received during the wake and the funeral.

We trust that this acknowledgment will be accepted by all as a token of our deep gratitude and genuine appreciation.
Sadie’s Month’s Mind will be celebrated on Sunday 24th August 2025 at 10am in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower. St. Pio pray for her.
