The family of the late Samuel George Henderson (George) wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with and supported us during our recent sad bereavement. We are deeply grateful to all who sent sympathy cards, letters and messages of condolence. Thank you to everyone who came to offer condolences at St Columba’s Church on Friday 27th March evening, and to those who attended the funeral on Saturday 28th. Your kind words, memories, stories about George, your presence at the funeral, and generous donations in his memory were truly appreciated, and were a blessing to our family.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the GPs and staff in Drumragh Family Practice, District Nurses, Respiratory Nurses, Slevin’s Chemist and Gortmore Day Centre. Our heartfelt thanks to George’s carers, who treated him with love, dedication and compassion, and became part of the family.

A special thanks to the Reverend Graham Hare and Reverend Claire Henderson for conducting the funeral service at St Columba’s Church, and to Reverend Alexander Chisnall for his pastoral care during George’s illness. We also thank the church organist and Wendy Henderson for playing the organ at the funeral. Our thanks also to Ruth Monteith and the team at St Columba’s Church for the wonderful funeral tea in the hall afterwards.

Thanks to Judith Kempston and the team at Floral Temptations for the floral arrangement, and to Robert & Derek Armstrong and the team from Armstrong Funeral Services for their professionalism, care and support with all funeral arrangements, and to the grave diggers at Sydare Cemetery for their work.

Finally, special thanks must go to the players and coaching team at Dunbreen Rovers FC and to the members of the RUC George Cross, for their formation of a Guard of Honour to welcome the funeral cortege at St Columba’s, and furthermore at Sydare Cemetery for the interment. It was a touching tribute to George and greatly appreciated by the family at a difficult time.

It is impossible to thank everyone for their kindness individually, so please accept this acknowledgement from George’s family as a token of our sincere and lasting appreciation.

Jean, David and Claire.
