The Smith family wish to acknowledge the many kind expressions of sympathy and support offered on the recent sad loss of our much-loved and treasured mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, Sadie.

We offer our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to our extended family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, who visited the house, helped at the wake, sent Mass cards, sent flowers, gave donations in lieu of flowers and for those who brought gifts of food or attended the funeral Mass and burial. We are eternally grateful for your words of comfort, visits, and support.

Thanks to Monsignor McCanny who visited mum in Cornfield Care Centre and provided support and prayers on the days before her death. Thanks to Father Michael McCaughey for his visits during the wake and for providing us with a beautiful mass. Thanks to Father Joe Gormley who also attended and provided prayers at the mass. Thanks to Anne Marie Hickey for the beautiful singing and music during the Mass. Thanks to the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana who provided refreshments after the burial.

A heartfelt thanks to Margaret, Sister, Nightingale Unit, Cornfield’s Nursing Home, her team of nursing staff and care assistants who nursed and cared for mum in the last nine months of her life. Providing this care with such kindness, dignity, respect and compassion. Who made mum’s transition from her own home to nursing care a little easier as they became her friends and extended family. Who also provided much needed support to our family, particularly in the last few weeks of mum’s life, we will always be grateful. To the Foyle Hospice Nurses who cared for mum with great compassion. To Aberfoyle Surgery for their care for Mum over the years. To mum’s Social Worker Stephanie McKinney, Western Trust who provided support in a professional, kind and responsive manner. Special thanks to the care staff from the Western Trust, North West Care and Advanced Care who supported mum to remain at home for as long as possible. Providing kind, compassionate care in a dignified manner.

A special thanks to W.J. O’Brien & Son (Funeral Directors, Eglinton), for their professional and dignified handling of all the funeral arrangements.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation.

Mum’s months mind will be held in St Brigid’s Chapel, Carnhill on Thursday 16th November 2023 at 7.00pm.
